Would an induction be likely to fail....?

...if my cervix is 1cm thick and closed? They would only be able to give me one dose of propress (the 24hr tampon thing) as I would be a VBAC.

is there a medical reason for you to be induced?

It's a long story Daxi.

Can anyone give me any sort of idea?

I think this is like asking, "how long is a piece of string", so going to be hard to answer. What did your doctor say?

It depends on so many factors, some of which you haven't set out and some of which you couldn't possibly know - how many days overdue you are, when you'd go into labour naturally if you waited, why you had CS last time, why are you being induced.

As an example - one of my friends went in for induction at 40+10 - they broke her waters, gave no drugs and baby was born 6 hours later.

However my SIL had those pessary things two nights in a row at 40+14 and it didn't help and needed further medication to get it going, and baby not born for another 48 hours from first induction.

However, doesn't seem to be any downside of trying - if it doesn't work, you are not any worse off than if you didn't try and if it does work thats good?

When i had my son, my first child, i had to be induced and i was 2 weeks over due. My cervix was no way ready not even a pin opening and not soft at all, baby's head was not even engaged. they gave me the tablets thing every 8 hours is it? and managed to break my waters and it was fine :-) he was born not long after

If you are a Vbac they are very unlikely to induce you at all. They are more likely to do an elective section rather than do a medical unduction as it increases the risk of scar rupture so I have heard.

Thanks Katy good to hear.

Mumcah-it depends what hospital you are in as to whether they will induce. Mine does
