The main thing I read was that if you have clots bigger than a 50p, then you see your midwife/GP. Don't forget that bleeding can suddenly increase if you've been more active than previously so perhaps rest up for a few hours and see if it slows up a bit.

I had my section on 14th January and i bled right up to when my period started last week.

mummy you can bleed up to 8 weeks with a vaginal birth and longer after a cs, and that being heavy. If you notice any clotting as luci says then mention to the doctor/health visitor. If you see the 'clots' and they look lumpy and fleshy then def go to the hospital as it could be some retained placenta...it is a rare thing but can happen.

Think maybe just walked too far and needed to rest a bit which I did and seems lot netter.

I bled for around 8wks after both my c sections, heavier when i'd done a lot of walking, overdone it etc.

I bled for nearly 12 weeks after C-section, but it was very light. GP was mildly interested and asked me to keep her informed, but didn't really do anything about it.

I guess I wasn't too bothered as I have really bad periods and this all seemed a bit minor.

I think the clot thing is important. I you pass anything fleshy or lumpy definitely worth speaking to GP about.

Hope you feel better soon

that's interesting chellesgirl, i mistakenly thought women didn't bleed as much after a cs as they take everything out.

i realised i was wrong when i bled for 6 weeks had a one week breather and then started my damn period..grrr

they take out what they see yes, baby and placenta and any torn placenta if needs be, but in very rare cases because of swelling placenta can get left behind. With trauma to anypart of the body your going to experience beeding internally (bruises etc...) it only take blood vessels to pop (not dangerous as they heal very quickly by themselves unless in cases such as high blood pressure etc..) for blood to appear. yswim???? exactly why if you over exert yourself you will notice more bleeding, thats why it is important to rest well after any type of surgery.
