Anyone been induced twice?

Hi All,

I'm 3 days overdue and have spent the afternoon being re-scanned and monitored due to a slowing of fetal movements. I'm back in tomorrow to be re-monitored but booked in to be induced Saturday morning where I'll be 5 days overdue. Unfortunatly my cervix isn't ready so it looks like I'll have to go through induction all over again.
With DC1 I was induced at 10 days over (waters went over 24 hrs previously) - and to be honest, it was hell - no breaks in between contractions and I only lasted 2 hours before an epidural.

So am looking for experiences 2nd time round - am dreading it but I know it's best for the sake of my baby. Thanks in advance.....

Try not to worry.

I was dreading a second induction after a horrible experience with DD's birth. I was fortunate in going into labour naturally the day before DS's planned induction (just as he was 2 weeks overdue), BUT everyone pointed out to me that your body is going to be much prepared second time around. An induction with a first birth is always hard.

Bumping anyway for anyone else's experiences.

I've been induced 3 times. Each birth has been quicker than the previous but, fortunately, the only interventions were prostaglandin/misapronol (SP?) and waters being broken. My third labour had no breaks between contractions and was extremely intense, but only lasted 3 hours so was manageable.
Maybe writing a 'being induced' birth plan will help you think through your pain relief options and feel a bit more on top of it?
Hope it all goes well.

Hi,
Fingers crossed everything goes well. I was induced 2ce and actually it was longer second time around as the baby was about 30% bigger. I found it easier second time around because I knew what was going on and this time I felt strong enough to tell them I needed an epidural and not to fob me off with some gas and air.
Try not to worry though, it may never happen!

I was induced with DDs 1 and 3 (both times with PE)

With DD1 I needed 3 lots of prostin, then ARM, then synto, then 8 hours of labour.

With DD3 they wanted to give me prostin but I refused, as I was contracting irregularly and wanted it to be a bit more natural if possible. Then my BP still wasn't coming down in spite of two different kinds of antihypertensives and I was pushed into a difficult ARM. I then contracted more regularly but didn't dilate at all. I felt very bullied into having synto, which was an experience I did not wish to ever experience again after DD1, and DD3 was born two hours later.

So, sorry, that was 14 hours in all. And that was my third baby.

I was induced twice. 2nd time was a much quicker labour, and I had an epidural (which I didn't with the first). I'd recommend the epidural - it was a truly amazing birth, especially the pushing stage.
