me being made to wait till the end of the day?

I will be bloody starving hungry and because I am having a section as a result of two previous traumatic births, I am not classed as urgent needing a section so all the other sections will most probably be put before me.

How long does it take for them to get through everyones sections? Like, do they whisk through a few an hour or is it more like one done every few hours?

Trying to determine how long I could potentially be made to wait for?

I was told to go in at 7, and had mine at 2- they were delivering the siamese twins , so they explained there would be a wait.

It was a very busy hospital, and they seemed to get through us pretty quickly considering what they had to deal with that day.

I think it depends on your hospital, TBH

Hi,

I'm having mine on Friday. We were told they do three planned c-sections a day, usually in the morning -8.30, 10.00 and 12.

They didn't mention the emergencies that have to take priority and can keep you waiting, but other people have mentioned them since.

But my info from the hospital definitely says 'The vast majority of planned caesareans are performed in the morning.'

Ooh blimey! I bet its frustrating the waiting isnt it!

Plus the nil by mouth thing, I bet you were starving by 2pm!

Well the midwife told me the procedure is they check how things are going on the labour ward first, if everythings quiet there then they start with the sections booked, obviously if an emergency section comes in they deal with that first and then they look at the sections booked and prioritise them, like she said for eg if theres a woman with diabetes down for a section she will get hers before mine.

This is why I think I'm gonna be there all day starving hungry, and my kids will be worrying if they havent heard from me by a certain point!

I wasn't properly schedule the day I had a c-sec (previous c-sec, waters gone, no labour) and was told they ad a long list and not to come until 1. DD2 was born at 3.42pm.

Haha, I was ravenous by 2pm... so much so that I started to get stomach cramps more and more frequently, each one more intense than the last.

It took a health worker to say "you're in labour you idiot"

They called my for the CS 5 mins later.

I was told to get there for 7 and to realistically expect my section around 11.

As it happened I had to have the section a week earlier than planned and ds was born just gone 3 in the afternoon. They couldn't do it before then because I had eaten an apple at 9 o clock.

Well I went in on Weds morning, the 17th feb, got there at 8am and I was 2nd on the list when I got there, then the first lady due to have a section got cancelled cos she had not received some mri scan result back yet so all of a sudden I was moved to first on the list. By 9.20am I was on the table and my daughter was born at 9.42am!!!

Shes 16 days old now and here I am sitting on the sofa with her lying on the sofa totally refusing to go to sleep, shes lying there with a dummy in her mouth looking like Maggie Simpson!!

The section was uncomfortable for about a week after, having to pull myself up from a lying down position was the worst but after that things get alot better.

I am gutted that I have a scar now to ruin my ever so perfect before this operation stomach but I couldnt go through labour again, so this was the only option for me.

Am so glad its over and done with, I have three beautiful kids, and I never have to do this again!

Oh she was 7lb 4oz too, and my section was exactly a week early, so considering they said my baby would be small I think she did ok at 7lb 4oz!!

It will fade! Not completely, but mine is barely noticeable. It is the price we pay! Don't be gutted about it tho, I hated mine, dc1 was an emerg section/GA because of her distress after induction (no time to do epi etc) but my friend called it 'the door to dds life' and it made it feel different to me.

Mine is no longer viewed as a scar, but as the reason that dd is alive & well.
