HI I'm 37 wks today and am moving 150 miles away to be closer to family, only get keys for new place tomorrow so not sure where exactly I will be when this baby decides to arrive,(probably on the M4 ) Couldnt tell anyone sooner as only just secured the house myself. i receive antenatal care from my midwifes up here in a birthing centre and my hospital of choice is bath as they offer epidural etc. but how can I advise them of where to give birth/receive care etc if I have no idea where I will be? does it really matter as long as I carry my notes with me?surely a hospital can't turn u away/refuse care?

When you are fully moved you will need to register with a doctor and they will then put you in contact with the local midwife. If you are between houses when baby makes an appearanc you can just turn up at the local hospital with your notes, they won't turn you away. Be sure to always carry your notes with you where ever you go just incase.

I live in Reading and was at a funeral in Poole when my (early) labour began.

I had NO hospital notes OR bag with me - we turned up at Poole hospital and they were fantastic. They got my notes faxed over from my local hospital, lent me a tens machine, got a midwife in so that I could try for a natural/water birth. They loaned me nighties, towels etc and were absolutely great.

So try not to worry about what will happen when you go into labour - wherever you turn up they should 'welcome' you with open arms.

Like you say - just keep your notes with you, and a hospital bag in the boot of your car, and you should be fine.

Best of luck xxx
