is there ANY way to bring on baby at 37 weeks?

If I make it to 38, I'll have a sweep and then 48-72 hours later I'll have to be induced.. as baby is too big.

So women trying to bring labour on at 42 weeks don't have much luck so is there any hope I'll manage it this early?

I REALLY don't want to be induced as the prostin pains were the most agonising part of the labour last time and I was left in a dark room on my own and told DH could not be with me until I'd started to dilate a signifiant amount. I was terrified.

So I need to make this happen.

Any ideas? I'm not willing to try castor oil.

huh? Why couldnt your dh be with you? That's mad!

I'm in the same boat. I have Evening Primrose Oil, Raspberry leaf tea, clary sage and accupuncture all on the go at the moment.

Post here if anything happens

I don't know why but I aswked if they'll make him leave when I'm having prostin pains this time round and they said yes, husbands can't stay until they decide you're far enough along to move you on to the actual labour ward. It's not the best hospital on earth.

Good luck to you.

Eat pineapple, drink raspberry leaf tea, eat hot curry and have sex.
It's what I did with DS2 and he was here within 24 hours BUT I was almost 40 weeks, so prob could have happened anyway he was a big un though.

Oh Totally [waves from Feb AN thread]

I'd want to know why he can't stay. If it's cause you'll be on a ward and men can't stay overnight could you get the pessary put in at a time when it's likely to start activity during the day when he can be there?

I'd ask again, explain how anxious you are because of your previous bad experience and if you get nowhere try the supervisor of midwives.

Just theory though, hopefully someone else can give you some advice based on their experience.

Have a look at this link for info on natural induction.

Some studies have shown acupuncture to be 88% effective (but that is on women who are 40+ weeks, so possibly less effective if you are not full term). Though fwiw I had success with acupunture at 38 weeks. Was in labour within two hours.

Good luck!

totally, pretty much every hospital that does inductions via a CLU will not allow husbands to stay with the mother until she is 3-4 cm or dilated enough to be moved to labour ward for ARM. it is nothing to do with whether it is a good hospital or not, but the fact that an AN ward, is not the place for multiple women and their partners

if you get to 38 weeks and your bishops score is poor, then you might want to re negotiate an induction or have an elective c.s instead if that is terrifying you

How big is your baby?

cantmummyhaveabreak · 06/02/2010 18:34

circling my hips round and pacing brought me on with DD2... sex with the DS and Dd1 though!! tell your DH he's in for a busy night!!

I had my accupuncture sessions on Monday and Friday this week. On the Monday he stuck some needles in me purely designed to calm me down-he says my adrenalin gland is overactive -can youbelieve that ME? ANGER PROBLEMS? FUCKING CHEEK!!! Then on Friday he did the angry needle points again (which really pissed me off) and he stuck some in my ankles which I noticed corresponded with the area that some posters on here have mentioned that reflexologists use to bring on labour. He has been a bit reluctant to focus on labour as he says that he thinks it's unethical to do it before 38.5 weeks. Nothing happened on both occasions though other than I felt a bit sleepy afterwards.

I tried everything last time (accupuncture, raspberry tea, pineapple, curry etc..) and nothing worked. my water broke prematurely and i had to be induced because there was no contractions... I finally gave birth at 40+1. Hope it works for you

MadameCastafiore · 08/02/2010 09:12

Spend the next 24 hours sitting on a birthing ball really worked for me.

newmomma · 08/02/2010 09:17

Surely they can't stop your DH being in with you?? How awful for you to have been so scared and on your own. I'd put something in your birth plan that you never want to be left on your own.

Is there any way you could consider another hospital?

Haven't got any more suggestions not lised above already - apart from expressing and crying! Weepy movies will be lined up for me when I go overdue...!
