38 wks - GP thinks baby is transverse - any chance of turning it and avoiding cs?

At my 38 wk appt today GP thinks the baby is transverse - can't feel the head and I'm only measuring 31cm. GP says it's unlikely that the baby will turn at this stage so likely I'll need a cs at 39 weeks. I have a scan at hospital at 1pm today and will be seeing a consultant. Has anyone found they were transverse at this stage of pregnancy and successfully turned the baby? TIA

Yes, my baby turned on the morning my cs was scheduled. I only found out when they scanned me one last time before taking me to theatre.

I didn't do very much to make it happen, it just did.

I decided not to go ahead with cs and left hospital. Labour didn't start so ended up with elcs 2 weeks later

but my babies don't seem to want to come out ever

Thanks skidoodle. It turns out from having a scan and seeing the midwife that the baby is not transverse - the head is fully engaged and in the words of the sonographer "could come any time now". A relief after being told by the gp that I would probably need a c-section in a week's time - although it would have been nice to know when things were going to start. The baby is lying on my left side curled all the way around with her feet over on my right side - taking up as much room as she can which is normal for second babies according to the midwife. The midwife said it was quite common for second babies to move to the middle during labour so no need to think of a c-section at this stage. I'm just trying to be really conscious of my posture and remember to use the exercise ball.
