Was thinking of booking in for a treatment or two at the end of my pregnancy to see if it'll get things moving.

Does it work usually? Or will I be shelling out £25 per session for nothing more than a foot rub?

I had relexology before and during my last pg. I had a session 5 days before going into labour naturally ( the day before my EDD). There is no way of knowing if it had an impact but its a lovely relaxing treatment. A friend had some and went into labour within 2 days, another had some and went into labour 6 hours later!

FInd someone who specialises in maternity reflexology though as there is an induction sequence that can be done. I was booked in for this on my EDD but didn't need it in the end. It would have involved my DH going with me to learn the sequence which would have to be done until labour started.

Good luck with your birth.

I'm not sure if it worked for me as I was induced in the end (did have a VERY quick second stage though if that's any help)

One thing I would stress is that if you go to a proper reflexology practitioner (as opposed to a salon for example) it is very very painful! Just be warned, I was thinking it would be a nice foot rub and ended up watching the clock counting the seconds until she stopped hurting me!!

Yes, I was warned that the induction sequence was quite painful. However, I remember in my very first session, my therapist said that sometimes it can be pleasurable pain! It was. Although I don't know about the induction sequence one.

Urmm, sorry TMI but Foot rubs have caused me to orgasm in the past, is it that kind of pleasurable pain?

Is it more rubbing or poking? Don't really want to scare the poor woman

PMSL! It wasn't that sort of pleasure for me. Just kind of when she was pressing reeaaaallllly hard, the pain was wierdly nice and I didn't want her to stop. That does make it sound a bit orgasmic but its not like that. Although in your shoes (ah ha ha ha ) I suppose it could happen! Its more pressing than poking.

But don't they say orgasms could start labour????

A double whammy session, orgasm and reflexology all in one... the embarrassment might be worth it .

If I have a headache can guarantee my feet always ache, especially the toes, which correlates to ideas in reflexology (not sure if I believe the rest) Dh cures it with a foot-rub. Have been to a reflexologist in the past but dh is better.
