I just wanted to share my thoughts on a story in the news today - Midwife 'butchered' mother in botched delivery. More poor reporting that might scare pregnant mothers

It is on my my blog

Sorry for delay on getting back to this - and Sassybeast and standanddeliver, as more seasoned mumsnetters you might know how to bump this post for those who also contributed to this discussion to know that the interview finally went out in the Independent (it was pulled from the Mail, who felt it was too "heavy" despite printing all the gore from the Mother's side) and it appears here Interview in Independent

There was actually much more than could fit in the space, but it did at least offer the other side and I posed a few questions highlighted by the discussion, namely the Helperr protocol.

I am going to start a new thread about the Maternity Protest happening this Sunday 7th March outside Imperial War Museum, so watch this space

I really hope Sue Rose is rehabilitated and will be able to move on with her life. I do not know her, but reading all the facts I have no doubt she saved that little girls life. I really wish her the best

bit of a hijack but emma I just wanted to let you know how much your book changed my life after a traumatic first birth with DD. It really changed my outlook on things and I went on to have a natural home water birth second time round. I give your book as a present to all my pregnant friends as it is such a breath of fresh air compared to all the doom and gloom pregnancy books. Apologies again for hijack but it is not very often you get the opportunity to thank someone who had such a positive impact on your life. So thank you

You are very welcome lifeistooshort, am so pleased that it made a difference. It's not until you are lucky enough to have a good birth that you realise why all women deserve good maternity care and good old-fashioned kindness during this vulnerable period.

That is why I'll be waving a placard outside the Department of Health this Sunday (7th March) to wave a banner for better maternity care and to protest the scrapping of the brilliant NHS Albany Midwifery Practice - axed for no good reason.

If you feel like a pram push day out or doing the same come on down - see the details on the campaign website

I hope to meet you there in person! My banner says just one word - Empowerment! come and say hello...

Hi Emma. Unfortunately I am in Bristol, pregnant and with 2 DC so I doubt I would have been able to make the protest. You have my full support though and I hope it goes well.
