Squatting to deliver - Any tips?

I had dd on a bed, lying upright a bit. She got distressed and it was really tough pushing.

This time (due tomorrow!) I want to stay upright if I can and like the idea of squatting.

What I am wondering about is what happens when the baby is delivered. Do they cut the cord and then you go onto the bed for the rest?

Are there any tips for this or other positions you recommend? Thanks

I had ds1 in a supported squat and ds2 in a supported kneeling position (I knelt on the floor and faced dh who held onto me whilst I pushed)

Really recommend both positions - with both dc I ony remember pushing about 6 times before they popped out - and ds2 was a big baby.

I would have liked to have seen any mw try to stop me delivering how I wanted!!!!

Remember, giving birth is like icing a cake, you have to bloody concentrate!!!!!
