New to Mumsnet! Anyone given birth at Ealing Hospital or Queen Charlottes recently?

I'm new to Mumsnet.....! Hoping some people who have recently given birth can share their thoughts.

I have to decide ASAP whether to have my second child at Queen Charlottes or Ealing Hospital. Ealing has a shocking reputation whilst QC is supposed to be the best, particularly for potentially more difficult pregnancies (I'm 39 with a blood clotting disorder.)

However, when I had a miscarriage a few months ago I had great service from Ealing Early Pregnancy Unit, and the doctor I spoke to there said that Ealing was really improving, and was also less "complacent" than QC. I also have an OK report on Ealing from a friend who's had all 3 of hers at Ealing. Ealing is also a lot more convenient for me in terms of location.

My experience at QC with my first child was horrible- they missed the fact I was breach, induced me, left me alone for ages and then did an emergency C section so rushed that I was left with scarring and secondary infertility (Ashermans) which had to be surgically corrected.

Any experiences or thoughts from people who have been to either would be really welcome, as I'm making decisions based on two personal experiences which might not be reflective of the overall service. Many thanks.

I had my first child in the birth centre at QC and could not fault it. However I could not comment on the normal delivery wards.

I know mums who have used Ealing with no bad reports. If you feel you have had a nice experience there I'd be tempted to go with it if it is easier to get to.

I think these things are often the luck of the draw, if you give birth at a busy time they may be overstretched etc.

Good luck!

Thanks! I think I'll go with ealing- if only for the shorter journey!

HELP!!

38 year old, first baby, trying to decide between QC and West Middlesex (which is closer and more convenient)

Haven't been to either and really not sure where to start? Any feedback welcome.

Thanks.

Just reactivating this thread. I've just been referred to Ealing hospital. I spent 3 weeks in Queen Charlotte's having my first (severe pre eclampsia) and was told they'd send me back there next time as it's a high risk pregnancy. Am in two minds as to whether to kick up a stink and get it changed to QCH because had mixed feelings about the place and Ealing would be much more convenient now as we're shortly moving to Hanwell and will be easier for my husband and little girl to visit. I have heard Ealing has improved in the last year or so. Anyone had any recent experience of giving birth there? Anyone else been treated for a complicated pregnancy there? What was the care like?
