Getting contractions started?

Right - I know this is the million dollar question, but I am a week overdue and FED UP.

I've scored 9 on the 'Bishop's Score', baby is 2/5 engaged and at my sweep yesterday my midwife seemed sure labour would start pretty soon...

What a joke. So, although I have tried everything I can think of, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions specifically for getting contractions underway properly? Have been having loads of BH and what felt like some irregular ctx last night, but nothing since.

I know I'm being impatient but my mum had really difficult labours as she said her body just didn't seem to know what to do - I've always thought my body was fairly good at getting things done, but starting to worry that I'll follow her lead.

Any suggestions much, much appreciated!

You could try, a nice long walk, hot curry then and warm bath and sex lol

or my midwife said to do lunges or walk up and down the stairs that always got my labour kick started.

the last weeks drag i know how hard it can be. good luck

Realistically, there's nothing you can do. Your baby will come when it's ready and you wouldn't want it to come before then.

People will tell you to do all sorts of labour intensive things like long walks and climbing the stairs and having lots of sex. Of course if you want to do these things then you should but you run the risk of disappointment and fatigue which are not good things to be entering into actual labour with.

There are many people that will swear blind sex/curry/pineapple/a long walk set things off for them but I reckon I can probably find a healthy number of people who were doing what I was when labour started.

In my experience then, sitting around doing not a lot and eating rice while half-heartedly watching Kill Bill is proven to start labour.
