I am in my secound pregnancy only 9 wks and am already getting worried about the birthing experiance.

Im insulin dependent and have had resnable control. With my first child who is now 2 & a half, healthy and full of beans I had a terrible birth experiance.

I was induced at 38wks for no reason that I can find, (my babys weight on all scans was fine - not to big born at 7lbs 11oz). After a terrible night at the hosital being made to sleep in my own broken waters - the nurses didn't clean it up simply put a small cloth on top to sleep on. I was then put on a drip and made to contract after 11 hrs only dilated 4.5cm they decided a C - section was for the best.

I was devisated it was the last thing I wanted, I cried all the way to theater.

This time I am more detumined to have what I want - oviously my unborn childs health & mine come first. But I am really intreated to find out if there are any other diabetic mums out there who have been able to go full tearm or have a "more natrual birth"? It would be so encoraging to hear your experiances

Yes haha us students - its cause the info is new to us (well for me I actually got most of it from my mum and my BTEC 4 yrs ago) and have just decided after DD's birth that its the career I want, seeing so may mums upset and hearing of all the PND its heartbreaking.

Hey, dont think urself bad cause of the meds - I wish I had some my GP wouldnt give me any - thought the talk therapy would be more of a help. Honestly I just wanted someone to sue the hospital for me...

Im in Birmingham...it was strange cause when i was giving birth/throughout pregnancy I made sure there were no students around ...now its really hypocritical cause I feel I am good enough to be at someones birth and shouldnt of thought so bad of the students back then...but it was made worse by the fact the one student i did have at 28 weeks who was doing bloods...poked me 5 times and still couldnt get needle in..just refused the blood test in the end.

I think it's brilliant, i would LOVE to do what you do, im a tad screamish though but you never know im only 26!

I had the same with one student doing my blood, i hate having it done anyway but i ended up with a big lump for ages where they put the needle in.

When i gave birth i had a room full lol my mum, DH , my sister 2 midwifes, someone from the baby unity, obsitrician (spelt that wrong) and about 4-5 students ha ha there wasnt a dukl moment.

oh i love near Brighton

Ive always been obsessed with the human body lol. I was top of my class at school in biology getting 100% on every test...it got to a point where the rest of the peeps started calling me a 'pervert'.

Brightons a good holiday!

I couldnt do the whole 'ten ppl in a room' thing...me, DP and midwife and thats it...I have much respect for people who can lie there with thier legs open with half a dozen people staring it was bad enough having my legs in stirrups

xkatyx · 25/02/2010 12:13

ha ha I didnt have to much of a choice with all the midwifes etc, cause my little one got a bit dstressed towards end and got a bit scarey i think, didnt realise it to much at time but now i look back i thing oh god it must of been.

with the students i didnt reaslise they were gonna be there all that time ha ha i was asked if they could come in before i started contractions and thought yeah sure, then they were still there when i had my daughter lol it was all a bit caotic lol dont think i would like it like that again though. but they were a great help kept my spirits up.

oooh i had stirups to .. so un attractive!!! arse in the air lol

Chellesgirl · 25/02/2010 12:34

I think those things should be banned! I suffer from clicky hip - diagnosed when a child and its fine normally but sometimes locks. And they put my legs in the stirrups and my hip locked and that was the only pain I had during labor...and they couldnt get my legs back out casue of the pain. my DP is the only one that can massage it out...but it didnt work until she finally popped out. when i watched one born...it just reminded me of the stirrups - ur right so unattractive

xkatyx · 25/02/2010 13:41

oh ouch .. sounds painful. i would def like to avoid that again, just add it to my list of worries :-)
