Help.. am I going into labour at 35 weeks?

I'm 35 weeks today. background info is that baby has an irregular heartbeat and is quite big.

I've been having painful braxton hicks for a fair few weeks now but tonight they're really bad and lasting 50-60 seconds. They're not really regular yet but feels like they're getting that way.

Baby has barely moved today so I'm worried.

Need advice desperately.

Ring labour ward for advice.

Call your Maternity Unit for advice. Hope all is well.

On the no movement thing - drink a little ice cold water and see if LO moves more. I did this a few times in the last few weeks - I think she just ran out of space so moved less

Totally- how are things.....

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 21/01/2010 16:56

Well I've rung labour ward too many times this pregnancy what with her heartbeat etc and I don't want them to think I'm fussing so I didn't ring. Today she's moving but only the odd time and I just went to the loo and had a show... so maybe things are starting?

I had DS1 at 35 weeks .

Ring the unit for advice, especially if you've had a show. Don't worry about previous calls, it's what they are there for.

CMOTdibbler · 21/01/2010 17:04

I had DS at 35+0. Would def advise ringing them, especially if baby isn't engaged

Lulumama · 21/01/2010 17:08

you must call

you've had a show.. was it bloody?

which although does not guarantee labour is starting, is a sig,

you've been having bad pain and baby is hardly moving

ou need checking

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 21/01/2010 17:14

it wasn't bloody, it was just like a big green snotter like I had with DS.

Does it sound like there's someting wrong (besides labour I mean)?

i think if there's less movement, then you should ring. they won't mind, it's their job

Lulumama · 21/01/2010 17:19

less movement than you would characterise as normal is something that needs checking

i am sure that the MW would rather check you out and find everything fine than for there to be a problem

Lulumama · 21/01/2010 17:19

i think some monitoring would be in order

Well you guys finally got me to go to hospital. Baby is now kicking like mad! In hospital, even when she kicked I couldn't feel her. They think it's coz she has too much amniotic fluid, but that could change.

Her heart is still demented.

I'm back on Thursday for another scan and a consultant appointment.

They actually called a sonographer in on a weekend and she was lovely about it.

Thanks all! They're keeping a very close eye on baby now and I've had monitoring, 2 scans, blood tests and swabs done today.

Lula are you still a midwife? I hope you're at my hospital!
