'Issues' with spinal when having a c-section??

Ive had 3 c-sections, 1st one was emergency so little to remember, but next two were elective and the spinal BOTH times has made me very very nauseous and breathless, im due to have another in a couple of weeks and wondered if these side effects are just part and parcel so get on with it, or if there is anything that i can do/can be done to help? even if only a little?? Despite all other things going on with a c-section i find dealing with the effects of a spinal 'one' of the hardest parts!

The main thing you can do is discuss it with the anaesthetist. Sounds as though your blood pressure drops dramatically and he/she can give you medication at the same time to prevent that.

I had a similar experience. The spinal went to high and made me feel as if I couldn't breathe and felt very sick. Also had a spinal headache for a week after but thats another story. Agree with Mears see if you can arrange to see the Anaethetist prior to the op and explain what has happened in the past. I will be doing so when I am next pregnant. Good luck with the birth and enjoy your new baby.

The anaesthetist can give you something straight into a vein which stops you feeling sick IMMEDIATELY! I experienced exactly the same, and actually yelled I'm going to be sick!! Before a nurse could get across the room with a bowl, the anaesthetist had worked her magic.

fabulous!

Oh wonder why they have never given me any of that Thanks mears - will remember that, my BP always in the ditch anyway - generally around 90/55ish - i know very little about these things but that does seem low to me, so i can only assume when they give me the spinal that must make it alot worse! Yes Lcy, my second elective was like that - the numbness just kept on coming higher and higher - V scary, was convinced it wasnt going to stop! Made me feel very sick and 'funny'. Ugh feeling quite nervous about it all already, excited tho too
