in Cambridge. Difficult? or are they understanding of previous birth trauma?

Had a horrible experience giving birth to ds. requested epidural but didn't get one as no aneasthtist (sorry no idea how to spell that!) available. ventouse delivery as pushing was so painful that i kept clamping my legs together 2nd degree tear, retained placenta, gave me syntocin (sorry can't remember the name, the drug used to induce you!) and went back into "labour" after giving birth meaning that i couldn't bond with ds as in so much pain. after 3 hours of this (still no aneasthatist available) was taken screaming into surgery where i was finally given a spinal block.

is this grounds for an elective cs or will i have to fight for it? I'm not pregnant at the mo but am thinking about it. the one thing putting me off is going through the same experience again

Bloody hell that sounds grim.

Addenbrookes are having a big anti-cs push at the moment (excuse the pun) but it occurs to me that you might want to take advantage of their birth debriefing service. I think you can discuss a past birth with a mw and make sense of it all, and use the insight to plan for the future and detraumatise yourself, etc. What do you think? I gather anyone is allowed to take advantage of the service.

thanks BoffinMum. It's just nice for someone else to agree that it was a bit grim and not just me being a bit of a wuss!

I had a feeling that it would be difficult to get a cs. after all I couldn't even get an epidural!
