Flipflops for the shower & don't need to reach down to put them on.

Wipes for that 1st meconium poo & cotton wool

Towel for you, towel for baby (pref dark)

Maternity pads

lazylion · 10/01/2010 12:50

Peppermint tea for gas pains. Huge cotton pants to keep the scar clean.

ManyMonkeys · 10/01/2010 13:01

Oh yes peppermint tea!
Towels - good idea!

Lots of flannels to help with the hideous itching when the morphine wears off.
Lip balm
CD for section
Money/card for the TV/phone
At least two lots of bedwear
Boots do a little travel bottle set to put your favourite shampoo etc in.
A good book, last time I went in at 3pm as there were lots of emergencies before me...

posieparker · 10/01/2010 13:05

How exciting!!

blinder · 10/01/2010 13:30

breastfeeding? if so - Lanisoh

obvious minimum list for baby:

2/3 vests
2/3 babygros
couple of blankets
cardie
scratch mittens?
pack of nappies

exciting! hope it's wonderful!

ManyMonkeys · 10/01/2010 14:39

thanku, im really excited! I will be breastfeeding so i must remember all the 'stuff' you need for that too! Lansinoh - yes, its good stuff isnt it! I have lots of vests and sleepsuits etc, altho have to admit i havent even bought any nappies aor wipes yet Im CERTAIN its a girl (gut feeling) and i asked at my 20 weeks scan and she said yes looks very much like a girl, so is it a good idea to take 'pink' things, or is that tempting fate? - should i stick to packing whites??..... (its very tempting to sneak a little pink thing or two in )

I'm sure I took very large sanitary towels for extra padding against the section.

I took white, blue and pink clothes in for all my DCs (2 of each).

GoldenSnitch · 10/01/2010 14:50

I had a section 3 weeks ago. I can dig out my list and post it if you like?

Or search my old threads - I created one just like this....

Best advice - was shower gel with a hook on for the morning after shower so you don't have to bend down to get it

LaTrucha · 10/01/2010 15:02

When I had my c-section DH bought my long feeding pillow into hospital and it really helped with bf. I could hold DD in a rugby ball position on top of the pillo, instead of across belly.

The shower gel one too.

I bought short-style cheap knickers and some of those mesh-type ones. The shorts were awful on the scar. I do recommend these.

You might feel bad if you take pink things and it's a boy. Having said that, I knew it was a girl and took all white and the mw who dressed her obviously thought I was letting the side down not ot have posher things. The Boots ones are terrible, BTW.

posieparker · 10/01/2010 15:53

I always took my own baby blankets, my own pillows and feeding pillows....

If you've got long hair take an Alica band and hair bands.....alice band can get your hair out of your face with one hand...and one hand free to hold your baby! Hand held mirror if, like me, you like to wear make up.. this saves getting up.

posieparker · 10/01/2010 15:54

And eye patches for a little ease with sleeping during the day!

ManyMonkeys · 10/01/2010 21:27

Ooh good good good! im writing all these down!! Those hospital knickers look odd, but look like theyre comfy! - may get some. Eye patches are a great idea GoldenSnitch - would love to read your list - cant believe how useless i am with my so called list before i came on here - must have sat looking at an almost blank piece of paper for a couple of days lol. Im sure baby is sucking the life out of the pathetic few brain cells i had left lol

Oh thankyou GoldenSnitch!! Thats fabulous! I'll be copying all that down now
Feeling abit nervous today, for some reason! no idea why. My date may change yet for the week before, so it might be 3 weeks today Eeek!!

OP posts:
GoldenSnitch · 11/01/2010 20:51

No problem. It took me long enough to compile, it's good that it's getting two uses

My date came round very quickly. Booked at 36 weeks and DD was born at 38+4 so I only had 2 weeks to get used to the idea! Hope it all goes well for you.

ManyMonkeys · 11/01/2010 21:45
