Can I bring my own birthing pool?

I am expecting dc2 in March and really want a waterbirth as it was such a great experience with DS. I can't have a home birth due to complications but water should be fine. The hospital only has one pool soon order to up the chances of being able to have a waterbirth I thought i would bring my own pool. Does anyone have experience of doing this? Am I allowed? Will I cheese off the mw? What do you think? Thanks in advance

You need to speak to the hospital midwives but I have never heard of someone bringing in their own pool into hospital.

I'd be surprised if they said yes - there probably won't be enough space and health and safety considerations.

Have you considered a home water birth?

They will probably say no, but I'd ask anyway.

You might not get chance to use it anyway. I wanted a waterbirth with DD but she arrived too quickly.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and I hope you get the birth you would like.

I'll ask next time I see MW - shame if it isnt allowed as I really benefited from the water last time

If you phone as soon as you are in labour and say you want to use the birthing pool, the chances are you will be able to. Not that many woman want to use the birthing pool.

Is a home water birth out of the question?
