I am 30 weeks pregnant and my baby has an irregular heartbeat. It is very frequently irregular and so I went for a scan other side of the country a couple of weeks ago and I'm back there later on this week.

Then 2 days ago, I caught my DS's sickness bug (it lasted 4 days for him) but only from 4am- 11.30am with me. Severe sickness and trots. DH rang labour ward and I was admitted when they checked my wee and found 5+ Ketones and 1+ Protein. I had 3 drips through the day/night and had to drink water. I passed urine and felt ok so I was allowed home.

The doctor had asked me if I was having pains and said my uterus muscle could be irritated. I said I'd had a few.

However, they seem to be getting worse. They've been happening for about 5 days or so now. I have drunk nearly 2 litres of water today but I still feel low, run down and thirst, and actually sick.

The pains don't feel like BHs, they feel like contractions, going from my tummy to back and the baby keeps kicking them. I'm uncomfortable and getting quite worried. I'm yet to time them but they seem to be every 5 minutes or so and last about 30 secs. They are increasing in intensity but they're not unbearable IYKWIM.

I'm too scared to go back to labour ward as they seemed quite sick of me the other day and they were not happy that I went in with D&V the other day as they didn't want to catch it for xmas. They put me in iscolation and didn't come to see me all day. They moaned when my DS threw up (we couldn't get a babysitter) and said they thought it'd be a goo idea if he left. He's only 1. They were also quite mean to me and left me carrying my bags when they'd just messed up putting a canula in and blood was dripping out of my arm as I was overloaded with my stuff. The midwife actually shouted at DH as we'd left my bag in the car, unaware that I was to be admitted. I don't want to go back.

So can anyone reassure me or tell me what I should do? Is there something wrong? Baby is active. They can't monitor her anyway as they don't understand the heartbeat at our hospital and it doesn't pick up on the trace machine things as she has atrial ectopic beats.

Also, I'm not on antibiotics as the wee results haven't come back yet and won't be back until Mon/Tue. I'm 30+3 and they can't deliver babies at my hospital until they are atleast 32+

Not a midwife, but you really need to call the midwives at the hospital and get proper advice. And just pray that the nice ones are on duty. Good luck.

I agree with Hassled, and could you possibly change hospitals due to how they were with you, that is awful.

Call the midwives, they'll admit you if they need to and transfer you if they can't offer you the care you need, or if you're really not happy with them, call the maternity unit at the hospital you were scanned at and ask them where you can go?

I am a midwife and my advice to you is to ring your delivery suite. Your uterus may well be irritated but nevertheless these pains need to be assessed properly. How horrible for you that you feel that you can't go back, but really we aren't all like that. Your baby's heartrate may be difficult to interpret on CTG but your contractions need to be assessed too. Please give them a call.

Thanks girls I went to sleep and they have faded away. They seem to get bad at night times so I'm going to see a midwife about it. Mostly because it's making me so uncomfortable.
