Never tried it but apparently you have to do it for hours for it to work

My midwife told me today, 'When you first go into labour, ring the delivery suite... and then have a nice long cuddle with DH and do lots of kissing'. Apparently, sexual contact of any kind stimulates oxytocin which speeds up labour. She added, 'The delivery suite people won't tell you this. They'll tell you to take two paracetamol and have a bath'.

I tried it and used a breast pump - it brought on some really uncomfortable BH that tailed off into nothing - but I wouldn't give up and tried it on a regular basis from week 38 (had SPD and very uncomfortable). Had loads of BH, general discomfort and it all led to nothing.

Then, a day after my due date, I went into labour. I hadn't tried any nipple stimulation for a few days.

My advice - give it a miss, you will go into labour when the baby and your boy are ready and you can save yourself even more discomfort in the meantime. Ah, the joy of hindsight!!

Oh it is so very true; after 3 homebirths I can tell you a bit of good lovin' and getting it ooooooooooowwwwwwwwnnn brings on the contractions nicely..a decent midwife will tell you the feelings that got it in there in the first place will help it out! Nature is bloody great like that......

Forgot to say, 2 out of 3 came bang on due date; if you feel Braxtons around that time, get going!

thanks for the replies, im 38 weeks in a few days and im already getting pretty fed up, i would do anything to go into labour now haha, a few people have told me to try castor oil when due date comes but i dont want to end up being sick etc from it. im not with my partner anymore so sex is out of the question i guess so just looking into other ways that work. this one jsut seemed to make the most sense
