i know this has been done to the end but humour me will you.

I have on my list of things done/to do:
sex
curry
long walk
scrubbing floor
raspberry tea
caster oil - not trying that one - yuck!
pineapple
general movement/activity

Anything else i am missing here? Not that i am impatient now or anything. I was feeling rather scared/apprehensive/nervous. Now, i just want him here!

By the way, is coffee known to delay labour, Pav, or was that an example?

I'm not hoping for much, but tonight I decided to try what worked for my mom when she was pregnant with me. Her doctor told her if she wanted me out, to go eat a "big Mexican dinner". (We're from California.) She went out for Mexican and had me the next day. (Before her due date, I might add!) Just yesterday two of my friends back home told me they'd gone into labor the same way - by eating massive amounts of Mexican food.

It's not easy to cook a proper Mexican meal in England, but we pulled together a reasonable approximation. I'm now stuffed to the gills - it'll probably just make me feel ill but I figured it was worth a try

Longwayaway - talking of mexican, we just had burritos for tea!!! However, mine was toned down somewhat due to the chilli causing lots of acid!!! Where in california are you from? We lived in that mexican chain food joint whats it called? I can't remember, but it did fab burritos, i love them! My family live in Modesto and Paolo Alto, and DH was born in Stamford.

katster twas an example, i hope it does not slow it down, as I been drinking it!

I have had some contractions, quite painful ones, along with heavy period type pains and very heavy feeling in my undercarriage {tmi} but all slowed down again now .

I have tried to pretend i am not due and not checking, but i can't help it!

Pav that's right - you mentioned you had family in the states! I'm from near Santa Cruz, and I was living in Berkeley before I moved here. I've got family all over CA. My brother went to Stanford for his undergrad.

Hope all this stop-start nonsense will speed things up in the end!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 24/11/2009 09:06

longwayaway why are you here?!!! i LOVE california, would move there like a shot if i could convince DH. Maybe not forever, perhaps a year? DH is reluctant as his father was british and went out there, and did not want to return, i think he is worried i would end up wanting to stay!

Still nothing! I shall get my hair cut today. That will do it!

Haha, we're going straight back in February! I've been working on a two-year position here that's about to end. Taking full advantage of the free health care while we can

I think the idea of 7 pineapples is the same as eating the curry... it's supposed to be that the bumb and the bump are closely linked so supposidly if you stimulate one you stimulate the other

I had a curry and went into labour about an hour later. I was 3 days overdue.

I agree with showofhands though. Never understood why people want to hurry it along, although I'm a total coward about labour.Baby needs to be ready. (The curry wasn't a deliberate attempt, I just like curry. It was a Friday night and I could have gone the whole bank holiday weekend happily baby-free. As I say, I'm a scaredy).
