Is it possible for BH to last almost 2 mins?

Just wondering .

I'm now 40+8 and been having pots of BHs this afternoon. I picked dc1 up from school and half way through letting him play after school suddenly had a big urge to come home and felt v uncomfy. Persuaded dh to come home from work a bit early, and apart from being the grumpiest woman on the planet, being a bit uncomfy and not wanting much dinner, all seemed OK. Dh now putting DCs to bed and having regular tightenings, so decided to time them. They are every 4.5-7 mins, and just had a biggie that seemed to last almost 2 mins.

With dc2 they didn't hurt per se (thanks to hypnosis) and we had trouble identifying when I was in labour until practically in transition. I am starting to wonder, but reckon posting this should stop anything in its tracks .

I am suspicious, I have to say...

I really want the DCs to go to sleep so I can go and put my PJs on. Sometimes dc2 mucks about for over an hour. Labour last time was lest than 2.5hrs from first twinge to birth.

ooh. well instinct was taking over earlier for you to get you home etc and thats a strong thing i go by (pg with 3rd dc)

keep eye on timings when dc has dropped off perhaps have bath if its BH then they will prob stop the real thing will carry on

you are overdue now......

madmissy · 19/11/2009 19:23

der just read this us your 3rd too!

i think you know...

Ewe · 19/11/2009 19:24

I bet it'll properly kick off as you get into PJs and relax, I think if they are regular and lasting 2 minutes they're actually doing something.

Have you had a show yet at all?

Grendle · 19/11/2009 19:25

Thanks . I'm not overdue, though. WHO defines normal pregnancy as 37-42 weeks. I have another 6 days before I am overdue. EDD is only ever a guesstimate.

Just had a bigger gap and then rubbish weak one lasting 40 secs. Told you this thread would stop things .

Grendle · 19/11/2009 19:26

No, no show. But I didn't ever notice a show with dc2 either.

i only had a show with dd2 after a sweep never had one with dd1 i don't think

you are a patient lady! lol

have the bath might make you more comfy too if you are achey etc

Grendle · 19/11/2009 19:36

I just don't like being interfered with , based on experience with dc1. I declined a sweep or an appt to discuss with a consultant.

I would go and have a bath, but can't go up until dc2 is asleep . I guess when dh resurfaces everything will either stop or maybe, just maybe if I'm v lucky start going properly.

Not achey as such, just tightness across bump and pressure down below during surges. Earlier on when I was walking around I couldn't tell if I was having tightenings or if it was the baby stretching . I really am quite thick when it comes to all this!

haha!
well if they pick up you will know
keep us posted!

Grendle · 19/11/2009 20:31

Dh is down and they've stopped completely. I'm hungry now, so off to eat .

OP posts:
Grendle · 19/11/2009 20:41

Ooops no, take it back. 30 mins off while dh crashed around and I put my PJs on and settled down with a coffee and just had a good one.

They're still relatively mild, but better than the last time I had a run of them at the weekend.

Going to send dh out to buy me some crisps. Because I can. Oh no, wait apparently he needs to pop back into work anyway so was planning on going out now regardless .

Toady · 20/11/2009 09:43

Fantastic, well done, I find it amazing that us Mums react to what is going on around them my contractions stopped and then started again after my dcs had gone to bed.

Welcome to the world baby Grendle.

hamandegger · 20/11/2009 09:47

VengefulSinner · 20/11/2009 10:02

Goodness me, that was quick!

Congratulations!

katster37 · 20/11/2009 10:55

Oh, fantastic, Grendle!! I clicked on your thread as I have been having BHs which are coming every 4 - 6 minutes and also lasting up to 2 minutes, and making me feel sick. As this is my first, I am not sure what a 'real' contraction feels like. My EDD is tomorrow.

Grendle · 20/11/2009 14:30

Not as quick as last time BIWI . Labour was 3.5hrs once it really started properly. V intense and birthing was hard work, even in the pool. However, there's not a scratch on me and we're all just tired. It was stop-start all the way: sometimes almost continuous contractions, and at others up to 10 mins of nothing. Bizarre .

Katster -hope you are well on your way now .
