Home water birth in rented property?

It's my first time on here, so bear with me!

I'm pregnant with no3 (just 14wks at present) but I'm determined after 2 awful hospital births to have a home birth this time. I want to have a pool as well but I live in a rented house and want to know if there is any legislation/insurance/other important info I need to be aware of and whether or not it will affect my wishes.

I figured it's best to find out a bit before I bother with the letting agents who have become more and more useless!

If anyone has any info or actually had a water birth at home in a rented place I'd love to hear what you have to say.

I've done it, really shouldn't be a problem and you shouldn't have to let anyone know. Check your contract obviously for anything that might worry you but it should be fine. An inflatable birthing pool is nice and secure, they have double walls so any leaks are contained so there is no risk of water damage.

I did it too - no need to ask permission! Our landlady even sent a card when ds2 was born.

I'm planning this too - haven't told the landlord or managing agent and have no intention to!

The only thing I've really considered is where to put the birthing pool - our living room has rickety old floor boards over the cellar so have decided to set up in our bedroom (which is on solid ground, so to speak).

I'm planning to hire a pool from these folks - Birth Works - rather than buy an inflatable one as I'm 5"9 and, er, "sturdy" . Plus like the idea of having it set up before the labour so I can relax it in if I want to...

Good luck with it - hope you have a better birth experience

We live in rented and haven't bother asking them if it's okay..actually didn't even think about it asking. I'm lucky and have set up pool in space off the lunge and spend hours in it watching tele as it's the only time I'm comfortable. I highly recommend hiring one that is heated and you have for few weeks before and after birth the electricity bill hasn't goen up as much as we thought. You can leave water in for 7 days before changing and my partner often finds me floating in it with a cup of tea by the side when he comes in from work LOL. Infact I might get in it now as bouncing on this ball isb't bringing this baby out!!!!!!!!!!!!
