Just had a sweep....

...at 40+3. Obstetrician said I'm 2-3cm dilated already and she thought she'd been able to do the sweep really well. I had a show before the sweep and had a bit of blood after she did it.

So what happens now?? Is it effective and how long might it take?? Desperate not to be induced in a week's time! Thanks

Is it usual to have a sweep at 39+4 and what exactly does that mean? Apparently I am 2cm. This is my second child with an uncomplicated pregnancy so far, as was the first.

Well that was a false start. I did get hormonal and intense cramping/backache, no bleeding or spotting but the mucus plug showed (just white/yellow mucus). And that's it. Cramping has eased off and today I feel fine. Due in 2 days. I am assuming that I am a wee bit more than 2cm because of the plug and movement that went on, but not ready yet.
