YanknCock's labour/not labour, useless contractions, is that my waters now? bitching thread

YanknCock · 23/08/2009 11:32

The story thus far:

Friday: Mucus plug gone at noon

Saturday: Big gush of something at 12:30, thought waters had gone, midwife says no, I am merely the queen of discharge. Contractions starting at 6pm, timed between 5-7 minutes, pain manageable.

Sunday: Timed again between 2-3am, 3-5 minutes, still manageable but more painful. Stubbornly refuse DH's suggestion to call hospital, but made him take a shower and took one myself just in case. Slept a bit between 4-5:30, but contractions got much worse. On toilet at 6:30 and had another lot of fluid I swore was waters leaking. Wasn't peeing and couldn't stop it using pelvic floor muscles, so really thought that was it. Contractions coming a lot and painful, feeling like I wasn't getting a break. Gave up and called labour ward.

And now: Sent back home again after hours of waiting, inconclusive whether waters have broken, not dilated at all, and very pissed off.

Contractions still coming every 5-8 minutes, can barely walk, and in a foul mood. How am I supposed to tell when it is time to go, when all indicators said I should go last time!?

fuckity fuck. Please tell me to stay home and not phone anyone next time.

Hmm -- don't want to alarm you, but it sounds as if she's going to have a baby fairly soon. Um, did you want a home birth, as it may be a good idea to give the midwife a call!

Pavlov, looks like your DH will need to renew his passport first. here

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 23/08/2009 21:02

Ooooh its close! I would say call them now and see what they have to say, 7 mins to 5 mins won't take too long. How long to the hospital?

(ILMD - so it appears no time limit to register the children? Just once DH gets his ass in gear and renews his passport? Its a pain as it has expired so long ago I don't know if he can do it from Uk any more)

kathyis6incheshigh · 23/08/2009 21:03

Yeah I would probably call the hospital.
You don't have to go home from hospital if you don't want to - you can always sit there and refuse to move.
Good luck.

merryberry · 23/08/2009 21:07

point is they are down from 11 to 7 and not stopping, sod what they did earlier

merryberry · 23/08/2009 21:08

going offline yankncock, don't hesitate to call/text any questions overnight you think i can help with.

all power to all your elbows. except the babies. tell him to tuck them in.

YanknCock · 23/08/2009 21:14

Called hospital - they said to not go in - wait longer. Joy = apparently they have to be 3-4 mins apart.

got any truly shite dvd to watch to take your mind off counting? give timing a break for an hour or two? seriously, give me a bell anything a chat could help with. you can do it. keep nibbling and drinking and napping and moving a bit. had another shower? i'm willing the time to pass for you, can you tell

they really do like to cut it fine, IMHO. it's just a system darling, don't take it personally, but be ready to speak up for yourselves when you want to.

it's bloody mad, all this to-ing and fro-ing they set us up for. xfx

YanknCock · 23/08/2009 22:05

me again, DH just supplied more food that I couldn't eat in bed so am sitting up for a while.....

am listening to podcasts and trying not to think about it, not timing anymore as they didn't seem to be getting closer together, possibly getting slightly further apart again.

also not going to think about the fact that I probably won't sleep much again tonight. . .

don't want to go downstairs because toilet is up here and stairs are agony. feels like the SPD has kicked in again except worse (it had been behaving very well due to osteopath). Plus sofa is less comfy than my memory foam mattress, which really takes the pressure off my hips.

took TENS off before as I had a bath, haven't bothered to put it back on as I wasn't convinced it was helping anything (had it on for about two hours).

if I'm not sleeping by midnight I may have a proper shower and wash my hair again...

thanks for all the support everyone, will be back later or send DH in my place.

Have been reading your updates today yank and you sound like you and Mr Yank are doing a fab job

Hold on in there

MrsHappy · 23/08/2009 22:41

I'm sure Ina May Gaskin suggests having a glass of wine at times like this... (Or maybe I imagined that, but it is what I would be doing in your shoes).
Good luck - I hope it kicks off soon and if not that you manage to get some rest. You do at least sound very calm!

morningpaper · 23/08/2009 22:42

I had two bottles of beer and a pizza

merryberry · 24/08/2009 00:33

yup i deffo had alcohol at home with ds2 to help relax and cope with the long haul. this is about the hardest bit i think. at least with established labour you've got something to be getting on with! this bit can go on for ages love, you're doing all the right things: conserve energy, keep spirits up, find some relaxation. (am going back to bed again as well, neighbour freaks keep waking us. 7 more days and they go...)

cathcat · 24/08/2009 00:45

Good luck, not long now I'm sure! Best of British luck! will check thread tomorrow.

Leo James BabyYanknCock born at 1116 today weighing 8lb 6oz. He disengaged during labour and was born by cs. Both are doing fine, baby feeding well and he has a full head of hair. Just spoke to Yank and she is so happy to not be pg anymore, and thrilled with the little one.

Congratulations
