pethidine - positive experiences?

hi ladies

I am due to give birth in 5ish weeks hopefully at home if the midwives agree.

All i have heard is negative stories about pethidine and how out of control/sick it makes you feel. so when i gave birth to ds1 i never really considered it.

I just want to know is it really that bad?

Had gas and air and pethidine. Pethidine sent me to sleep and was great. No problems with it at all.

Ditto, just slept on pethidine. Completely got rid of the pain. No sickness, was given anti-emetic drug with the pethidine.

When it wore off had gas and air, barely touched the pain. Dd born about 10 hours after the pethidine given, no probs with feeding or anything.
