Show... in a 1st time mum - how long before labour? Another of pupuce's quest for info!

I know (and I always say) that a show - especially in a 1st time birth - can come many days beore the birth but I wondered how common that was.

SO...

In your first labour, if you did not have a sweep (and also no one had done an internal examination)... how many days or hours before the labour started did you have your show?

Had show when I was 6cm dilated in hospital, just got out the bath! (birthing pool unavailable)

had show in hospital with DD2, remember asking the midwife if I could go to the toliet and freaking out because there was blood in my knickers, don't know how far I was into labour as she was reluctunt to examise me as I was in premterm labour (33 weeks) with DS I had a show about 8 hours before he was born (c/section) and I don't remember having one with DD1

I would say mine was about two weeks initially. I went to an ante natal class at 37weeks and I had had one ( I thought ) the week before. It all sounded very familiar when I was there, but still tried to convince myself I had imagined it. Had a couple more, including one the morning my waters broke. I had DS at 37 6, so I would say about 2 weeks. Sorry so rambled! Looks like I am the longest so far!

I never had one. I went to the hospital after my 1st contraction (it was so strong I had a feeling I shouldn't wait around, and had been at 5 cm for almost 3 weeks) at about 4:55 in the am, was told that I was already at 8 cm and was in the 2nd stage of labor, and had to have my waters broken, and delivered at 8:00 that morning. I was 5 days overdue.

I had a show on the wednesday, DD1 was born four days later on the sunday (following a four hour labour).

With DD2 I didn't have a really noticable one, possibly a bit of gloop about six hours before she was born (following a two hour labour).

four days, show on Thursday morning, labour started properly at midnight on Saturday, and I had a very long labour, and babe born on Monday morning
i was exhausted get as much rest as you can,

Had a show on the Sunday, waters broke Friday, contractions Friday night, baby Saturday morning

Had a show at 3.15am,was on the phone to the hospital at 3.45 when the 1st contraction hit me.DD was born at 7.21am.4 hours 6 minutes in all.

I had one when in labour.

Never had one. Had a sweep at about 11.00 from which I bled, period pains until 18.10, first proper ouch contraction, baby born 23.05

I don't think I had one - waters broke after about 20 hours of irregular contractions (not counted as labour by the hospital) and I think there may have been mucus-y stuff in with the waters. 'Proper' labour started then really and ds1 born 8 hours later.

I had my show exactly at the beginning of my labour.

Don't think I had one. Waters trickled out not a big gush from 3am onwards for about 6 hrs. Labour started 6.20pm, ds born 11.13pm.

I had a show about 2 days before but then had contractions for 4 days before finally having waters broken on day 5

Mw thought I had had a show on new years eve, and yet dd not born until 24th Jan, so long time, not sure if it was somehting else in retrospect. With 2nd it happned as I was in labour

Don't think I had a show - waters broke at 6:30am, contractions started at 6:45 pm and DS born at 2:50am.

Suppose it all came out sometime .

show on wednesday evening - waters first popped on fri am, waters exploded sunday am, in hosp mon am for induction but unable as a few pains and had started to dilate - see thread on c sections!

with dd1 I had a show about 4 days before my waters broke, then another 24 hours before contractions started. With dd2, I had a show in the morning, another one later in the evening and contractions started immediately, then dd2 born 5am next morning.

With ds I had a show at midnight, period type cramps from about 6.30am, contractions by 10am but didn't go to hospital until 8.00pm and he was born at 3.30am .

about 8 days before ds was born

With DS1 i had a show in morning at about 9am, went football over marshs, got home about 2pm and waters broke about 2.20pm.

Had DS1 9am next day after being put on drip to speed up labour as it was slowly progressing once i reached 5cm!!!

show 10 am ish - first contractions 4pm ish

No show with either dd1 or dd2. Waters didn't break until labour was well advanced both times.
