o.k. bit embarrasing. I absolutly can't handle a bikini wax right now. I'm at my due date (and waiting...) and I'm trying to get my head around whether I should have a go at tidying things up down there. It's obviously quite difficult to reach at the moment so what do you think? Any hints or tips from people in the know???

Due in 10 weeks and strangely DH isn't keen on shaving my legs but okay to do a bikini trim!! Luckily still have a small bump so managing with a bit of guess-imation. Totally understand about being neat below and therefore easier to feel clean and fresh.

Definitely off to get a pedicure though as my feet are looking rough (don't trust DH with nail polish!). Plus any excuse for a bit of last minute pampering

I made a decision to stop trimming and pruning myself even before I could no longer see my foof! The reason for this is cos in this heat I didnt want to deal with the addition of stubble rash on my belly! Plus the reason we have hair there is for lubrication purposes, so I figure it can't hurt to be there a little longer! I'll sort myself out after the birth when I need to feel human again! (thats if the birth ever happens, I'm 5 days overdue and feels like 500!)

I trimmed with scissors to a short length (with the help of DH)(don't do all off ever) was much easier to feel clean after.

I was just thinking about trimming this morning, I'm 33 weeks and I hate feeling like I'm hairy. Plus it gets sticky after so it's much cleaner to have short and neat hair.

Knax · 06/07/2009 22:05

i didn't bother, then was shocked at the length of it afterwards once i could see it again
I do cringe at the memory of the dr smoothing it aside before doing an examination before the birth. Don't want to think about that too much again

Hehe am I the only one with a fear of pubes?! I hate the bloody things, I have a hollywood and no amount of childbearing will stop me!

I'm another who sent the DH down to trim the ladygarden before elective c-section for DS.I know that no-one else cared but I did!! Am currently 38 weeks and having next c-section a week today, having pedicure tomorrow and sending DH gardening at the weekend!! Had managed to keep it fairly trim enough for swimming, not scaring people atthe gym etc until the lastcouple of weeks when itsbeen difficult even with a mirror!

I randomly sprayed with immac at 39 weeks, bit tricky to hold your bump up while spraying and removing.

Think it might have turned out a bit patchy as I couldnt see a damn thing down there

BottySpottom · 10/07/2009 17:00

I trimmed with scissors because I thought I'd feel a bit better about being on show.

The reality was that at the time I wouldn't have minded if it had been dyed purple and had split ends, it was the last thing on my mind!

laurielou · 13/07/2009 13:53

My auntie decided to wax before going into hospital. She managed one side, got distracted by someone at the door, then went into labour with - as she put it - a "moustache on her top lip" .

1petshortofazoo · 13/07/2009 20:52

dp did mine with immac (no way he was getting down there with a razor) and a trimmer. was still going swimming quit regular. will be doing with this one to.

Mammina · 13/07/2009 23:37

A friend of mine was giving birth and the midwife said 'my, THAT's a lot of hair', to which my friend replied 'I know, I'm really sorry I haven't been able to tend to it for a while', and the midwife said 'er, what do you mean dear? I mean I can see your baby's head and he has a lot of hair'!!! It really is the last thing on their minds too

Hilarious thread

I totally sympathise, having last week experienced the bikini wax from hell

Usually it doesn't bother me, my shins are the worst. This time round I was leaping off the table in agony, it was worse than labour I swear !

However I do personally feel the need to be neat so I will begrudgingly go through the agony again in about 4 weeks

(and what is it about pregnancy that makes my leg hair grow so slowly and my pubes and beard grow so darn thick and fast anyway !!!!)

champagneanddaisys · 16/07/2009 17:01

i had a wax before and realy wouldnt recomend it its so uncomfortable! also she was 3 weeks late and by the time she got here and has to have em- ceserian, they had to SHAVE me anyway!!!!

StealthPolarBear · 17/07/2009 12:57

Will definitely be having a trim - planned that anyway - but will now also be eating a battenburg with pineapple rings - thanks SM

Mamulik · 17/07/2009 18:48

you can ask your DP or DH to help you

Boodlerpoop · 17/07/2009 19:54

Was worried about this myself, i never wax etc, think it is ridiculous, fair enough the odd trim to tidy up a bit, and my sister actually suggested I should for the birth. Idiot.

wheresclaire · 17/07/2009 22:07

DH sorted me out too with his Nicky Clarke beard trimmer. Afraid I started something there though. He still wants to do it 6 years later....
