Any recommendations? Don't want to spend a fortune. Thanks

If this is just something low to sit on, you can use a child's plastic step from somewhere like Woolworths.

miranda2 · 17/05/2005 14:08

Use the toilet!

motherinferior · 17/05/2005 14:09

I did use a child's plastic step. Not deliberately but after I got into my pool the midwives shoved it under me. We've still got it. I am very fond of it.

Ideally I'd like something I could actually give birth on, if I feel so inclined

I DID give birth on it.

motherinferior · 17/05/2005 14:31

I DID give birth on it.

Would a child's step be equally practical on 'dry land', MI? (Planning on hiring a pool but want to keep my options open )

Hmm, I honestly don't know. I didn't plan to give birth in water, actually, but I got in and pushed and there I was.

suzywong · 17/05/2005 14:39

I don't think you can get them actually, Mears will know

franch · 17/05/2005 14:44

I know The Good Birth Company has started hiring them out for £60 for 5 weeks - but was hoping to spend a bit less than that - you know how it is, if you spend a fortune on it you definitely won't use it

Do you mean the half-moon shaped chairs? I borrowed one from an antenatal teacher - may be worth asking around.

franch · 17/05/2005 14:50

Yes, that sort of thing Pimpernel. These are the ones that the Good Birth Co. hire out. Not sure I know anyone I can borrow one from but will ask around - thanks.

i used a birth stool during my first birth and it worked very well. since we won't have another child, we are now selling the birth stool (i bought it to avoid paying the £60 hire fee) - cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190153527538

hi there, you can hire a birthing stool from the good birth company, following the link to samantha jayne birthing pools, which is whom they have sold all thier hire pools too. The lady you bought them has been working for them and hiring thier pools out for 4 years but she know runs it in association with them. The stool was great for me, meant I didn't have to carry my own weight or squat while little one was coming out, cost me £78 including del to me and back again! (wink)
