Does nyone know if tea tree oil or cream is safe to use immdiately post-birth for soothing and healing in the inflamed dilly department?

If so, can you recommend a brand?

It's mazing stuff post-bikini wax so wondered how it would do post-birth.

Thanks!

I don't know about Tea Tree, but you could try Lavender oil in your bath water as that is good for healing. Arnica like this is very good, I used these Arnicaand healing was fine.

Homeopathic pills!! Sorry not a big believer in it, it's cheaper to just pop a Smartie and 'think positive healing thoughts'!

stuff in the bath water and arnica tabs, nothing on the dilly (!) area just yet esp if you have a tear/ stitches i think

keep clean and make sure you protect your foofoo when weeing, warm water over the area with a jug/ bottle when you wee and a pad pressed to the area when you poo

congratulations !

Ah thanks, baby due in a week, notfondly recalling the stinging when pee-ing after last birth, wasn't sure if tea tree could be applied directly to bits!

I had 2nd degree tear and just had LOADS of baths whenever i could, seemed to do the trick, and lots of sitting/lying on a towel with nothing on to let the air work. Lots of people told me to put salt in the bath so that could help, i never dared in case it stung lol Hope mum and baby doing well, congratulations

Well, I healed badly after my 1st Dc and was worried about the healing with the second, but I think the Arnica helped. Arnica pills are no different in my opinion than tea tree oil in that they are natural healers. You can get Arnica oil too. This is from one sourse;

The oil obtained from the dried flower heads of the arnica, Arnica Montana, infused in sweet almond oil (Prunis dulcis) in the ratio of herbil 1:5
The active components in arnica are sesquiterpene lactones, which are known to reduce inflammation as well as decrease pain.
The plant is used externally in an infused form for arthritis, burns, ulcers, eczema and acne. It has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities that can reduce pain and swelling, improving wound healing.

Arnica is an anti-inflammatory, pain reliever and a local antibiotic, that is used in liniments and creams for dislocations, sprains, bruises, chilblains,

It helps to prevent bruising and swelling after traumatic skin injuries and prevents the blood platelets from gathering to the site of injury.
