Anti-M and homebirth

Can anyone tell me about Anti-M antibodies, which I apparently have?

MW told me today that they will not 'let' me have a homebirth under any circumstances - I will have to be under consultant-led care.

I'm having trouble finding useful information about this, whether the risk of HDN is high or low and would greatly appreciate a few pointers. Surely they wouldn't want to have me in hospital for a blood-typing test for baby?

Apparently they would want to induce me 'at term' as well. I was induced last time, the hospital was horrid and we were in for phototherapy for three days anyway (not antibody-related). It was all pretty horrid, though I just got on with it at the time. The prospect of that happening again is pretty upsetting.

Thank you Beccabump. I guess I have to wait and see what my levels are, then work out what the risks are.

I don't mind having a hospital birth for a real risk, but an arse-covering risk is a different matter.

Have to agree with you there - I'm currently fighting for homebirth with Gestational Diabetes Hugs xxx

Thanks again. It's just such a strange feeling, having something come up that I didn't even know about... and I'm a worrier so have been through loads of scenarios!

If I could find any definite evidence or guidelines I would feel much more prepared, or resigned to my fate... but there doesn't seem to be anything very much at all.

Good luck with your fight x
