Inverted pelvis query

Hi all - friend gave birth at the weekend, planned a natural birth but after several days of contractions and two failed inductions baby was born by CS, after which mother was told she had an inverted pelvis. The way she explained it was that the "funnel" shape was not present, her pelvic opening was narrow at the top as well as the bottom.

Anyone have any experience? - sounds like something that could have been diagnosed at an earlier stage, wondered if that was possible?

TIA

Bump for you - never heard of that?

Thanks blondissimo - me neither! I googled but couldn't find any info. Friend was determined to have a natural birth but is sensibly being philosophical about it though annoyed at the pain she went through in induction if it could have been avoided.

She is quite small, perhaps it's related to pelvis size. (I should have paid more attention in Biology - I have no idea bout these things!)

I was told after my EM-CS that my pelvis was too narrow. Couldn't get my baby past the 'bend' after 3 hours of pushing.

Consultant was so adamant about it that at my 6 week check he said that, should we have another child and leave the area, he would be happy to write to the health authority we moved to explaining that I had a right to an elective C-section for this reason.

I can't find much about it on the web other than you don't grow a baby you can't deliver! However, even at the end of my pregnancy, my bump was high and I never had the need to pee any more often than normal. Also, in my yoga class, it was noticeable that my pelvis was 'tight' - I could never get my knees as far apart as the rest of the class.

Thanks Kwaker5 - I couldn't find much either except the thing about growing babies you can't birth. I can't think this is true universally, without exception.

I did find a bit about CPD but some sites thought it was a myth. Perplexing.
