Sex and pain after childbirth

Its a year and a half after a forceps VBAC and I still am on major pain relief for vagainal and rectal pain. I have pudnedal nerve damage and prolapse. Sex is very upsetting as I feel very little, I get nothing from it at all. Is there anyone reading this that has this damage and made any recovery? Did sensation return for anyone? Has anyone had loss of sensation from prolapse and had successful surgery? My life is a misery.

hi - just wanted to give some support as what you're experiencing sounds awful i don't know of anyone in a similar situation but I wondered if you are under GP care or seeing a Gynae consultant ? Is an operation recommended ?

So for you. I had pain for a long time after birth so I know what you mean.

How was the nerve damaged? Did you have a big cut or tear resulting in scar tissue?

If so, there is a cream called Contractubex that works wonders.

For the prolapse, you probably should have surgery at some point, but I believe you will be advised to wait until your family is complete.

My GP has never dealt with this before so I'm leading my quest for help by looking everywhere for help and have seen many different consultants. Its looking like I will be left like this and I don't know how to deal with it. The nerve was probably damaged by the forceps blades. The episiotomy is long and deep and I have scar tissue with pain in it all the time but its the other pain and pressure that is awful. I have no strength and am so uncomfortable that I don't think I could manage a pregnancy. I'm hoping that some woman out there reading this has recovered and will give me some hope. I'll check out the cream but I am worried that it might damage the tissue that would be needed in a repair of my badly done episiotomy.

I don't know anything about pudendal nerve, but I strongly recommend Contractubex for your episiotomy scar. It is specific for gynecological scars. My episiotomy was also long and deep, and in fact runs back towards my right buttock (and still gives a fright to poor girls who wax me down there).

It sounds like your GP should immediately refer you to a specialist gynecologist, preferably one who specialises in post-partum repairs.

I agree with Cote

Hi, I just responded to your CAT message. First of all - a most un-MN-like ((((((((HUG))))))). and for you. Please come over to the Ragged Bits thread and post what happened to you. Don't let the thread title turn you off, you don't have to have a sphincter injury or fistula to join the Ragged Dolls. It's sort of turned into the "come here if you have shredded bits from a birth, everyone welcome" thread. And there are lots of regulars so lots of people will see your story and hopefully someone will be able to help.
