DD1 born at 35.5? hind waters gone and I didn't know, what will happen with DD2

The title says it all really. I am 20 weeks gone with pregnancy number 2. I had gestational diabetes with DD1 and was on insulin and had a spontaneous labour at 35.5, very quick and uneventful but subsequently a poor sleepy feeder ho seemed to take 18 month to recover. We ent through hell, syringe feeding, 2oz every 6 hours even at 4 months old, it was sooo stressful and many tears shed.

I do believe her prematurity caused a lot of this and the fact that i didn't have much support to combat this.

Now I am staring to have sleepless nights / nightmares that i have to go through this again. No gestational diabetes YET I am told, but low lying anterior plancenta, which I have been told is quite common and should change.

So i guess what I'm asking is presuming everything is the same, I get GD later on and go on insulin etc, what can I do to prevent a premature birth again, and is it even likely.

Was also considering alternative therapies maybe? has anyone had a early baby then gone full term? I would appreciate your comments

My dd was born at exactly the same gestation as your dd. She had same problems and is still behind weight wise at 14mo.

i know how you feel, may not be able to answer about sebsequesnt pregnancy as havent had one yet. But i can say that every pregnancy is different. Just because you have 1 early baby, doesnt mean subsequent children will be the same.

I am though like you, worried about what will happen with dd/ds 2 (if i do get pregnant again) as had shit pre/post natal care.

I would seriously consider some sort of relaxation techniques, and antenatal classes, as well as maybe some prenatal yoga classes. GDM can be helped with cardiovascuar/cardiorerpitory exercise. Take up swimming if you can.

Id say take it slowly once you reach 35 weeks again and maybe swim/yoga once a week.
Before that tr doing this type of exercise for 30 min a day. Walking is great and easy to do.

If the anxiousness is getting you down and making you feel the next experience will be not as good again...then you need to talk it through with the midwife and get her to makesure you know the ins and outs, the facts of women with GD going into labor early.

when did you develop GD in last PG? And have you put on more/same amount of weight as last PG?
