Hi
THIS MIGHT BE A BIT TMI!

Gave birth to a near 11lb baby (1st baby) nearly 6wks ago. It was natural, no intervention. Had a 2nd degree tear that was stitched up.

Stiches more or less healed now but since very early on I've had feeling that something is hanging out of me. It just doesnt feel right, like I've got a tampon hanging out. I also need a wee almost as soon as I stand up but its ok when I sit down. Walking anywhere long distance is really uncomfy due to this. Have to go to the loo every 20mins if Im walking about.

On closer insepection of my nether region, seems the front wall of my fanjo is hanging down and the fanjo itself is gaping open.

I mentioned it to the doc a while back and she said it was normal and would get better by itself and with exercises - which Im doing. I felt it at 3wks and now again and it doesnt feel much better.

Is this normal recovery after birth?

Not had 6wk check yet, we get it at 8wks here.

Thanks

wow, GYo HUGE baby! congrats

um, afraid it sounds like a prolapse to me...

had 2nd degree tear after 2nd baby a bit bigger than yours last year who paused on the way out for a shoulder dystocia, extra pushing and all hands on, um, deck.

i was sore and swollen, of course, but what you describe is a step beyond. i also had real urgency and a few accidents getting to the loo in time for nearly 4 months, but not the stand up sit down on/off switch you describe! get seen earlier if at all possible, minimise any risk of infection or complications.

good luck, let us know how it goes, and also then anyone searching same thing later will see what happened?

GYo - Congratulations on birthing a huge baby!

You might have a prolapse (the feeling of "something hanging out") and weakened pelvic muscles (need to pee often).

See doctor asap and at the very least ask to be referred to a specialist physio to strengthen pelvic muscles.
