sweep now stabbing pains

Had a sweep yesterday at 40+4,and was 3cm dilated at that point. Had some more show since but cx are still fairly irregular - most frequent has been 10 mins apart but not particularly painful.

However, since last night, have been getting really painful stabbing pains in my groin/front pelvis area - gets worse if I go on my birthing ball, and having to drag one foot along the ground rather than pick it up at times when its really sore. Other times, its ok, then suddenly starts the stabbing pain again.

Think I had mild spd for the later part of the pg, but it had been pretty calm for the last month or two.

Anyone else had this after a sweep?

Put an ice pack there and call the MW? SPD can feel like this.

the only thing is, the mw i normally go to said to now call labour triage with any questions since I am in early labour, but it doesnt seem like a labour question in one way.

maybe i should just phone and see what they say.

By any chance were your legs splayed apart much more when you had your sweep? I've not got to your stage yet (40 weeks today!!) but I do have SPD, and the physio has warned me to be v careful when 'spreading legs' as it can bring on acute pain.

b4 I got the appointment, I was doing breaststroke, yoga, and inadvertantly making the pain a lot worse.

And the pain I felt anyway was very deep seated pelvic 'lady bits' pain - not obviously to do with my pelvic girdle.

Either way, good luck and hope baby makes an appearance soon !

I had a sweep with my first DC and i do remember it hurting a lot afterwards in that area - I think it may have been the head hitting a nerve now the cervix had been opened up a bit more. He made his appearance v. soon after that!! (and I was only 36-37 weeks - had pre-eclampsia so they wanted to get things moving....)

Always worth a call to the labour suite though (and I suspect you'll be going there v. soon anyway!!) Good luck!

guess legs were splayed a bit so that might not have helped - i kind of forgot i'd had pain there before as it hadnt been bad at all for the last month or two, but maybe it was just a bit too much movement.

had a show today so am really hoping it doesnt go on much longer - the pain is now not constant but comes and goes so cant go out for long walks to encourage labour to get a move on etc. could well be hitting a nerve thirtysomething - guess the head is as far down as it can be without coming out now.

good luck to you too littleweed.

Might be too late, as I have only just logged on, but this sounds like SPD and you need to get your feet up.
