St Thomas's or UCH Bloomsbury Birth Centre London

Hello, I'm trying to decide between St Thomas's home from home birth centre and UCHL's Bloomsbury Birth Centre. I want as little intervention as I can (if it's possible!). Has anyone had experiences with either of the birth centres? Any info would be really helpful! Thanks.

had ds1 at tommy's. and aftercare for ds2 (home birth) at uch. couldn't slip a hair between them with regard to policies on whether or not they will let you use home-from-home centres, but tommy's does have 2 pools compared to uch's one, if you want water birth chance. and amazing views from the quiet room, which i used for a while. i prefer uch overall though, but that's just because i was born there, i think ;)

I loved St Tom's, for both my dc

St Toms for me too - I was born there and so was DD. DC #2 is also going to be a Tommy's baby... The ward after my emcs wasn't great, but overall, the view and rooms are fab...

For what it is worth: Vote of confidence for UCH here - I was hugely dubious but my birth in the BBC was brilliant and the aftercare awesome. It didn't feel insignificant that the maternity hospital was in a brand new building either.

I turned up at the BBC at UCH last week with contractions and was quickly referred to the labour ward because of meconium in the waters. I ended up having an emergency c-section, but the care was fantastic. I did find the team at BBC (albeit briefly, of course) a bit distant and offhand, and that was the experience of a friend too, but I can only praise UCH when things don't go completely smoothly.

it might be a shallow reason but i have a fab pic of my bro and sis in law and brand new nephew with the Thames, Big Ben and Houses of Parl. in perfect view behind them out of the window!

(and she had a very good birth experience there - don't know anyone who has birthed at UCH as comparison.)
