I will copy and paste my last half hour or so of contraction times from the website:

1:23:41 AM 1:24:09 AM 0:28 3 m, 4 s
1:20:37 AM 1:21:20 AM 0:42 2 m, 57 s
1:17:40 AM 1:18:07 AM 0:26 2 m, 23 s
1:15:17 AM 1:15:49 AM 0:31 3 m, 33 s
1:11:43 AM 1:12:04 AM 0:20 4 m, 14 s
1:07:29 AM 1:08:03 AM 0:33 6 m, 5 s
1:01:24 AM 1:01:58 AM 0:33 5 m, 20 s

SO, they are now 5 mins or less aprart. BUT I am dealing with the pain really well. And I am sitting on my birthing ball watching TV and talking to an old friend on facebook! LOl. The actual contractions are painful enough to make me stop what I am doing, but in between I just feel 100% normal?

I have been having the pains on and off for the last 24 hours or so but they have only just got this regular. I have had a bloody show and I am pretty confident this is it iyswim. But I am just worried about going up to the hospital and it all slowing down as I am not established enough? But at the same time, I don't want to leave it too late!

Have got a 15 month old here too who is in bed but it does mean dragging my sister over here to look after her. Which is all fine but a shame if I don't actually need to!

Oh and I have TENS on and have had paracetamol.

I'd say they are close enough together to get your sister over. Do you have a midwife/hospital number to call to ask their advice??

LadyOfWaffle · 24/04/2009 01:51

I had similar and was sent home to go back for my (already planned) induction the next day and by the 9am appointment it was quite abit further along. Can you get some rest before it gets worse? It's hard to tell though - it won't hurt to be checked I guess? (I was only 2cm after a day of contractions)

It's difficult - I had easy to manage contractions 5 minutes apart with DS2 and didn't feel the need to go into hospital either. However, by the time they started to really hurt it was too late - my waters broke before we could get into the car and DS2 was born at home. Not trying to frighten you or anything but don't expect the second labour to take as long as the first. I got caught out by assuming it couldn't be that much faster and it was actually a quarter of the time of my first. Mind you it was a great experience.

I agree, phone the hospital and see what they say. Then get your sister over.

How long was your last labour?

Good luck if you have already gone!

soon2be has had her baby, Talia, born this morning at 9.05. Weighs 7lb 6 and has dark hair. She is feeding well, nice straightforward birth. Staying in hospital overnight to get some rest.
