Did you know when you were going to go into labour?

I'm pregnant with number 3 and had no idea with dd1 and dd2 that I was going to wake up in labour (happened both times at around 3am...) The membrane did not break until I was well on the way to giving birth both times...

If you're more tuned in than I was do you know?

Now I imagine you might have heard this already- but just when you thought you had things sussed, number three will be different. So say all midwives, and IME also true
Not in a bad way, I must add, hastily!!

Yes I had heard that gigglechick - what is your experience? I heard that labour can be very stop / start....

that's the one

like you i had 3am wake-up calls for ds1&2, then had a two day "maybe" labour with dc3, which only got going when we decided a) that we were staying at the hospital, as I was 'stuck' at 6cm, and b)got them to break my waters. Thereafter 35mins, baby born

That's interesting - I guess I will have to wait to see what unfolds this time then although hopefully will be at home.

gigglechick is right.

dd and ds1 were early, and were massivley long drawn out, slow labours that stopped and started and took ages to get going

ds2 was late. i woke up at 6am with a massive contraction and had regular stong long contractions til he was born just before 12.... and i think it would have been quicker if i hadn't been actively trying to slow labour during the 2.5 hour wait for my mother to turn up and the 1 hour drive to hospital that followed!
