Anyone had/considering a VBAC after two caesarians?

I have had one emergency caesarian and my second caesarian was elective. I really regret the elective one now and wish I had gone for a trial of labour. Scar took ages to heal and sometimes still hurts when i turn over in bed unless i tense all my stomach muscles first!

Anyway i'm pregnant again and the thought of a third c section terrifies me. I may be being irrational but can't bear the thought of being sliced open by some butcher again. And then there is all the healing... (sorry if you are planning a c section - I know lots of people have good experiences of caesarians!).

Should i try for a VBAC? would the problems with my scar increase the risk of rupture?

Anyone any ideas?

On a more positive note, I also had a VBA3C - my naughty bits are absolutely fine and natural childbirth is most definitely NOT over rated IMO! It was amazing and I know it's a cliche but it really did change my life.

Hi not the same but I had a VBAC after one section, was amazing, ws on cloud nine, even with severe tear and pain for 2 weeks, still better than c/s recovery. I recently had a baby after 2 c/s. Both previous c/s were emergencies. They strongly advised/told me to have an elective as having had 2 previous emergency c/s it was much more likely I would end up with another one and emergencies are not as safe, I almost died after my last c/s due to blood loss. I also had a stillbirth the year before and a cervical stitch in so they thought c/s was safer. I was gutted and terrified. I feel the same about c/s as you. I would have opted for VBAC given the chance. My scar stll hurts 5 months on and I have lots of scar tissue. I did find an elective far better than an emergency one though. I am not planning anymore now but it is a consideration how many kids you want and how many sections are safe. Good luck!

Yes naughty bits are a bit of a worry aren't they! I think that was one of the reasons that i chose an elective the second time around. doesn't seem a good enough reason now though!

vbacqueen that sounds great! - I think i'm definitely going to give it a try as long my current scar problems aren't a factor.

Thanks for your feedback too jellybeans, sounds like you have had a really hard time - thank goodness that you are OK.

I had a vbac after 3 sections just 6 weeks ago, recovery was a walk in the park compared to CS.

FWIW i always had pain in scar area when turning over in bed, sneezing when lying down, doing sit ups, etc just accepted it as normal after multiple sections, plus my scar held out beautifully during my vbac & it was only 1 year 9 months since third section.

Congratulations to you MummyGaGa! That is music to my ears!
