I am almost certainly being silly and possibly very officious but... She is about 38 wks PG and has been posting on facebook the last couple of days about having bad heartburn and being sick. Her last message said that she is being repeatedly sick and feels groggy - but she is not in labour (she has said she has a stomach bug).
I have sent her a message on FB saying that she should really call her MW or doctor, especially if she has any swelling in hands or feet. I am flapping a bit because I know that she and her DH are very anti-intervention...
I know I am probably being a prat, but it is too late to phone them... I just feel a bit uneasy.

I'm a doula and TBH this isn't somethign I'd be happy commenting on. It could be all manner of non-serious late pregnancy problems, a tummy bug (there's a hideous one doing the rounds where I live at the moment) or it could be something more serious. It sounds like she could be a bit dehydrated and tummy bugs can spark of labour and that's not a good place to start from!

I think your suggestion is a good one and hopefully one your friend will take, hope all is OK .

Thanks. She posted on FB this morning that she has spoken to a MW and the MW thinks it's OK, her BP is fine and no swellings, so it may be a tummy bug - there is apparently one doing the rounds near her as well.
I will just be checking her FB frequently and may give her a ring later on (don't want to ring up if she is feeling ill and wake her if she's sleeping...)

I would always say that a woman should call her MW or GP.. some things are just part and parcel of pregnancy, but some aren't

anyone who is unwell, groggy and sick, never mind when pregnant, should get medical advice

hopefully it is just a bug and she will be holding her baby soon!

you are good to watch out for her

women sometimes feel like they ought not to bother their HCPs, but it is always better to get a medical opinion on these things

I do fret a bit. She is a good friend but lives quite a way from me and I don't want to nag (also she is far enough along in her PG to be getting a bit fed up with the 'Are you in labour? Have you got long to go now?' stuff). Still, I am sure she will be fine and it will all be over soon.
