Anyone else have to have their placenta removed manually and has it ever caused subsequent problems?

I had to after ventouse delivery with epidural. All healed up fine but just thinking about it again now. I'm pg again and have had a low PAPP-A result which is a placenta produced hormone and a cause for concern for various reasons. (BUt possibly also nothing to worry about.) Anyway I'm probably clutching at straws but I just made the connection and it got me wondering...

hi had a retained placenta first time, but not the 2nd. BUT I had premature delivery of twins first time round. Premature delivery is a risk factor for retained placenta as the placenta is still stuck tight and happily functioning...it just isn't time yet IYSWIM. Monochorionic twins is also a risk factor (as the placenta is bigger than a singleton). My 2nd pg was an uncomplicated full term delivery (physiological third stage) and the placenta came away liek a dream.

Not sure about the relationship between PAPP A and retained placenta though.

I had a retained placenta manually removed with my first pregnancy, second pregnancy placenta caused no problems atall.

Oh yes, should say I had the injection to help it out first time, which led to it taking three hours to remove Second time I went for a physiological third stage and I delivered it myself within minutes

I had injection and infusion (which is normal for twins) first time. Actually I think that the infusion may have contributed to it as I wonder whether it was too strong a dose for premature twins.

hmm, tbh i think there's probably no relationship at all - just my mind whirring about trying to find an explanation for low PAPP-A result when they're probably isn't one.

Thanks everyone, good to hear things were ok afterwards.

The only reason I had to have it removed was because I had a bit of sintocin and that can cause the uterus to contract very quickly after delivery so they have to get it out quick if no sign it's doing it quick itself.
