hi, I am 40 + 6 today with my third baby and all night have had a persistant, v umcomforable pain in lower back, like someone is pulling a belt tightly aroud, hurts to walk...had a few contrax last night too, but been having them on and off all week...also i keep shivering/trembling...all weird, my other 2 were on time and my waters broke first so all quite obvious...eveything including position of baby is fine at check a few days ago...just wondering if anyone experienced constant back pain b4 going into labour and the shivering thing...promised kids we would take them to zoo today, is this wise?! am having a sweep on tues if all else fails...

Any constant pain needs checking out - phone your midwife. Could be that baby is just pressing on a nerve, but I still think you should contact the labour ward and tell them how you feel.

Good luck!

Could be - good luck!

I would call MW, get a check- there's always a chance shivering could be an infection of sorts so does need a watch at 40 weeks. If not in active labour and checked, then a close zoo might be a great walk to start idea. If not skip it. Long walk started ds3 off at 40+7

hi! she said it all sounds like things are starting up, and advised against zoo, stay closer to home instead...fingers crossed!

OK, that's good

Nor think about eating and drinking for energy later & keeping active if you want to try and get things moving....

The shakes could be low sugar so some porridge? or big bowl of cornflakes?

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 28/03/2009 12:26

I was freezing cold and shivery just before labour started

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 28/03/2009 12:28

If you get a temperature (sign of infection), speak to a mw again. But it sounds more like it's labour starting.

Good luck

I got the shivering thing with my second and he was a 40 minutes in establised labour job. Do NOT go to the zoo!

Hope the DCs are in bed and you can focus.....

get bouncing, walking up and down stairs sideways, reading a raunchy novel on the loo (courtesy of Lulu on another thread!), eating & drinking to up sugar levels, etc.....
