hi mums

I need your help and support...I am 39 weeks and 4 days now...my due date is 23/04. I have had a bit of prelabour these past two week-ends, and on monday I really thought things had started, but an internal examination concluded that my cervix was still closed and high...Since then I have had no signs of labour at all, no contractions, no show, no back pains...
My MIL is travelling from France this friday and will leave on wednesday. She really hopes my baby will be on time...it is her first grand daoughter...and I would be really disappointed not to offer her this great moment (I like her a lot) ...I am getting more and more pessimistic now, thinking that I will be overdue and they will have to induce me...It's just a feeling, but I can't help it.... I am also really afraid of having a c-section (low lying placenta, natural birth possible though...) .

I wondered if any of you had had a "sudden labour ", that is : no signs on the three days before but suddendly labouring around the due date ? ....

Anyway, any stroy or help will be welcomed to help me cheer up...thanks...

Still there, on my due date...had a curry last night and suffered from heart burn all night with stronger contractions but nothing like labour...

my MIL is on the sofa, and we are having a chat. She says that she finds me still very active and that she doubts now that the baby is engaging...The awful truth is that in France they give me a due date between the 27th and the 30th April. It was all written on the books....

a little bit disappointed and still impatient...

will let you know...

I was 8 days overdue and was doing shopping in Tescos at 2pm - had sore tummy, bit of the runs, baby arrived 9.30pm.
I think sometimes when you are overdue the labour is much quicker cos the baby is REALLY ready to come out!

Keep smiling, you'll be ready before you know it, I know it's frustrating, but it will happen soon!

Mamanflo - I have only just taken in what you said about your MIL coming over from France. Am I right in thinking that the French calculate their due date as 42 weeks? Ie the absolute latest that it will be? A friend of mine in France had a baby a couple of yrs back and told me this, so basically over there you expect your baby to be early.

MamanFlo · 24/04/2005 00:19

The french and the british are calculating differently, the french giving about a week more I think...and it's true : most of my french mates on a french forum have given birth a little bit early.

Now I am getting a bit stressed : on monday DH will go back to work and I will have to spend my entire day talking with my MIL...I do like her, but I can't imagine me spending 3 full days with her just waiting for smth to happen ! Or we will have to spend our days shopping and my bank account will really suffer ! I wasn't planning on playing tourist guide next week....

Please little baby, pop out....
