Homebirth and parking for cars

My bump has turned and is now head down although not engaged. It looks like I might get a home birth after all.

I have been given a list of things to get and things I need. One of the things it says is off road parking for two vehicles. My house has no off road parking, although parking in my street is not too bad. There is a green in front of my house as well.

Surely its not necessary to have off road parking for two vehicles. If I need an ambulance then surely the ambulance can just drive up on to the green in the same way that happened when one of my elderly neighbours was unfortunate enough to have a heart attack.

What surprises me is that midwives no longer make a home visit before you give birth.

No it just means they need the two spaces for the ambulance and midwifes car.

My midwife still did home visite to show how everythings gonna go, show gas n air etc...

Dont worry bout the parking issue. Ambulance takes priority in the street so ppl will just have to wait till the ambulance is gone. Hopefully it wont come to that though.

we have residents' parking on our road but the midwives just seemed to sort themselves out some how! me and DH were too busy to worry about it! i guess they have some sort of special permit.

good luck and don't worry i'm sure the midwives will cope

No way cn tey expect off-road car parking for 2 vehicles! Round here off-street parking is pretty rare - lots of small to medium sized victorian houses. If they genuinely expect it, it would deprive people in smaller houses of homebirth, which cannot be right?

Parking is far more likely to be a problem for anyone giving birth in a hospital!

When I went in to labour with dc3 my hubby was lucky to find room to stop and to get me into the hospital before I had the baby in the front seat!
