Has anyone actually used Juju Sundins Birth Skills in Labour?

I have just finished reading her book and a lot of what she says does make sense but I was wondering if there is anyone out there who has tried these in labour? If so how did it go for you?

I didn't actually read the book before I gave birth, but I read parts of a friend's copy afterwards. It was quite odd actually because during labour I had found myself naturally doing parts of her ideas on vocalisation without actually having read the book! I had various ideas about how to deal with pain ideally without drugs (upright, forward open positions for labour etc etc), but I hadn't expected that making a complete racket would be such a useful pain management technique too (glad there weren't any other women in the birth centre at the time...!). It definitely wasn't screaming-in-pain type noises but more productive roaring to help deal with the pain, and reading her descriptions of how to do vocalisations it was spookily like what I did naturally.

I did end up using only TENS and gas and air - TENS definitely helped, not too sure that gas and air did - although I wasn't completely against the idea of more interventions if I had needed them.

So that makes me think that her ideas are probably useful on the whole. Hope this is useful. Good luck with your birth!

Well I thought it was particularly interesting as a lot of what she talks about I did instinctively in early labour with my last 2.
I did succome to G&A and Pethidine with both though so wondered if it ws possible to avoid the pethidine this time.
Anyone else?
