well i asked for one on my due date and my mw was a little reluctant however when she checked she said I was already a few cms dilated so it would get things moving...and it did

mum2b09 · 16/03/2009 15:14

was it your mw at your gp that did your sweep? iv got an appointment on wednesday and was going to ask if she could do one is it painful?

yes indeedy it was my mw at my gp. Its not painful as such its more distinctly uncomfortable. take a couple of paracetamol if you are sore afterwards

My MW will do it before the due date if you can convince her... think it depends but reckon you could get one now..

Good luck!

I had one at 38+4

Didn't work

But the consultant said I was very favourable and already 1-2 cm dilated, so no reason it shouldn't work at term, just depends from person to person I suppose.

It didn't hurt either, just take a couple of deep breaths and you'll be fine.
