Last Time I had episiotomy and stiches and it was a bit of a mess post birth, which was not helped by an untrimmed fanjo.

Was thinking this time, of tidying everything up just to make it a little bit more "clean" really.

Not really arsed about mw seeing epping forest so its not a vain thing but really a hygiene/cleanliness issue.

AM I MAD?

I gave mine a little trim but no bikini line stuff. Maybe for practical reasons it would be OK. If you can see down there that is

chequersmate · 06/03/2009 22:59

Um, trimmed here as well. Also had an episiotomy but there was nothing to trim in that area

Northernlurker · 06/03/2009 23:01

I think this is very much a personal decision - I wasn't bothered but I've seen lots of threads on here from people who are! Just don't do anything that will itch too much growing back - not what you need after giving birth!!

hannahlouhoo · 06/03/2009 23:31

Have a wax (legs and underarms too) a week before your due while your there get you nails and toes done!! Made me feel fab, which is just what i needed! good luck!

LoveBeingAMummy · 07/03/2009 09:09

OMG there's no way I could have coped with that - had my eyebrows done when i was first pg and it was so painful. I used to do my own waxing and couldn't face it after that!

ShowOfHands · 07/03/2009 09:18

I didn't bother. Ended up with a cs after an episiotomy and failed ventouse/manual rotation.

I presume they shaved my bikini line. None of it hindered the recovery.

Have a wax? That's not advice, that's administering punishment.

lilymolly · 07/03/2009 09:34

No way am I having a wax btw but thanks anyway.

Prob will just leave it as it is but give it a trim

no.. couldn't work out if mw was humming guns and roses 'welcome to the jungle' or 'the forest' by the cure

like I could reach / see to do me pruning down there anyway!

frazzledoldbag · 07/03/2009 11:13

I would just trim it all really short and tidy (or if you can't reach/see get your partner to do it for you )...... it's just a bit neater and possibly more hygenic. (not sure about the hygenic bit but it would make sense to have things as tidy as poss esp if there are stitches around?)
Personal choice but that's what I do.
Good luck
(I also have friends who get waxed the week before, it makes them feel better about showing off their fanjo to the world I think!)
Not that docs and midwives give a monkeys BTW!

phdlife · 07/03/2009 11:27

I can't be bothered - haven't been able to see that area for months now anyway, not sure if it's still there

besides if they have to stitch, they'll shave, right?

RedOnHerHead · 07/03/2009 11:35

chequersmate - am wondering where the hair is on the epesiotomy line too....
am thinking you are not the only freak....
