Pals hasn't been very helpful and I'm really wanting to get them asap

Contact the hospital records department (PALS should have directed you there) and they will send you a form to sign and return and you'll have to pay a small fee. They will then send them to you or arrange for you to go through them with a midwife/other member of staff. Took about a week all told for me to get mine.

Thank you very much!

Hmm, depends on the hospital (as ever) - cost me £50 and took over a month with lots of stroppy chasing from me!

Took me £50 and about 3 weeks.

I would advise phoning and or visiting the records office and trying to get them to take a personal interest in you. If you can latch onto someone friendly and tell them your urgency they may try to prioritise you.

Cost about £20, they had a specific person who dealt with this situation and she was extremely helpful.

Let's just hope you live in the same area as me then!

I also paid £50 and it took ages, mainly because they insisted on sending me a request form (for me to fill out and return), THEN an invoice (for me to pay), THEN when the cheque cleared (no other way to pay) ... they went and did the photocopying.

Oh dear I don't want it to take that long, it sort of adds insult to injury if it's a long haul getting them.

Thank you everyone for the advice, that's really great :D
