I was wondering if and how people managed this, how you wore whatever you wore, whether anaesthetists paraphanalia was in the way, did you arrange anything beforehand, were you feeling well enough? Anything else?

Any tips would be very gratefully received!

AWWWWWWW purplemyrtle WELL DONE!! And congratulations....I do hope you are resting up and recovering well!

As soon as you feel fit you must let us know how she is, how much she weighs etc.

Your thread has been an inspiration (at least to me!) and I WILL be asking for what DH and I want on Monday! Very best of luck...and welcome to the world babymyrtle lol

x

Thanks! DD is doing well, she was just over 11lb which is one of the reasons we went for a planned CS, would've felt weird about it if she'd turned out to be a 7lber! I would like more sleep!

clouiseg the VERY best of luck for Monday! x

Congrats Purple!! Glad you started this thread, am back home as of yesterday too, had my litle girl on Friday. Am on cloud 9.

Took Meglet's tip on wriggling arm out of my scrubs before, and Rek's about hubby getting a large scrub top over his bare torso and it was lovely to see them whilst being stitched... She was rooting too from the start and didn't stop really, clever girl got the milk in pronto!!

All round a very cathartic experience after traumatic VB1.

Although typing with babe on boob is not easy !

purplemyrtle · 04/03/2009 16:39

Brilliant news Lotster, Congratulations! It sounds lovely!

I know what you mean about it being cathartic, I feel as if I've got over a few things by making sure things were different this time.

Hi Purplemyrtle thanks for this thread. I think you had your section at UCLH? I've got mine there next week. Glad all went well - very good to hear and good you got skin to skin. It's what I'm aiming for too.
How long did you stay in for?

purplemyrtle · 05/03/2009 13:52

Yes I did, am so glad we chose to have her there, people were really great. Stayed in for 2 nights which felt like the right amount of time. Re getting the birth we wanted we told everyone who would listen! Didn't meet the midwife til theatre so if same with you I'd suggest you get your birth partner to grab them and explain what you want to happen.

Good luck next week!

just had c section under ga didnt have no skin to skin but had baby right up next to me on bed asap to kiss and cuddle with support from dh and sister in law who is a midwife, which was much better experience than last time.

am just about managing to bf with really sore nipples any advice on how to treat sore nipples tried hot clothing, cream, massage etc. too painful need desperate advice.

purplemyrtle · 12/03/2009 10:47

Congratulations ticklytum! Glad you had a better experience this time.

Poor you with the sore nipples, mine were really sore again this time too, if it's any help they got better after about a week.
Do you have a pump? I found using mine for a minute before a feed shaped things so dd could latch on better which helped. Also was a bit lumpy/blocked on one side so expressed once to clear things a bit which helped pain on that side. Think there's lots of info in the 'breast and bottle feeding' area.
